Rest

On Picaroon in Rønne

We woke up to horrible weather so we decided to take a day off rather than to brave the rain.

Day 10 (03.08.06)

Rønne - Allinge - Hammerhavn

33.95 km or 21.08 miles

We set off from Rønne towards Allinge. This was one of our most hilly days, but our bike route took us along the coast and through the woods, so it was enjoyable, and as we have learnt "whenever there's an uphill, there's always a downhill". At Jons Kapel we took on a hill so steep that there were steps which effectively took us from below the cliffs to above them. When we arrived in Allinge, we went back to the amazing sweet shop, and this time we were able to see the "bolcher" being made, which was really interesting. Needless to say, we had to buy some more, and then we set off towards Hammerhavn. When we got there we loaded our bikes onto Picaroon, ready to sail home.

About Azafady »

Azafady is a registered UK charity and Malagasy NGO, which works in southeast Madagascar with local communities on nature conservation, health and education.

About Madagascar »

Madagascar is the world's fourth largest island. It has an absolutely staggering diversity of plant and animal species, 80% of which are found nowhere else on the planet. However, while one of the biologically richest places on Earth; it is also one of the world’s poorest countries. The country typically spends as much on debt repayments each year as it does on health and education combined.
